Cincinnati, like many parts of the United States, was hit with a large winter storm. It laid down snow yesterday afternoon, rained (freezing) all night and then dumped a large amount this morning. One car that didn't get cleaned off demonstrates this best. (Full pics here)
This is in centimeters... I broke the ruler trying to force it through the ice to stand on it's own so you can't see the inches. But that's about an inch and a half of snow, half inch of ice, and then 5 more inches of snow. On the plus side, this car was easy to clean, kind of like shelling a turtle. I just slipped the scraper under the ice layer and then pushed it up, leaving a small layer of snow.
But this doesn't really give you an idea for how much snow we got and how quickly. But the one on the right does.
I took that about three hours after I had cleaning off the car on the left. The only reason my footsteps aren't totally filled in is because I went out to the car an hour or so before the picture was taken to see something.
Not that it was icy this morning, but I had to break open the ice around the around the car door handle so I could try to open the door:
Once I got the door open, this was the view;
On the plus side, though I didn't realize it until i had scraped three car windows, all I really needed to do was open the door, roll down the window and push the sheet of ice away... which I did with the last window:

And now, the roads are clearish, but the wet will freeze up overnight. Tomorrow promises to be interesting.
