Reneé has one very firm rule in her life. She doesn't cook on Friday nights. Don't have to eat out, but she doesn't cook because Friday night starts her weekend, generally her free time. Although the last two weekeend have had little of that because we've been doing things for her work.
But, last night, since we have little time-related/work-related projects for this weekend, we went out for a proper night out. We headed over to Valley Vineyards first. If I hadn't had a root canal earlier this week, we probably would have had dinner there as part of their weekend cookouts:
Come experience a legendary Valley Vineyards Cookout, our most popular feature. Both indoor and outdoor grilling venues are provided where you can cook and socialize with friends. Along with your steak or salmon, and a great bottle of wine, you will enjoy two types of salad, green beans almondine or corn on the cob in summer, baked potato, fresh breads and our special homemade dessert buffet.
Cookouts are every Friday and Saturday throughout the year, with the addition of Sundays, July through October.
Seating is between 5:00pm and 8:30pm and on Sundays between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Reservations are strongly recommended. We do not accept reservations by email!
Weekend Cookout Pricing 21 and over:
$55.00 per couple w/ one bottle of wine
$27.50 per person w/ 2 glasses of wine
Price remains the same if couple or person would like grape juice instead of wine.
Under 21 yrs of age - grape juice
$15.00 w/ steak or salmon
$6.00 w/o steak or salmon (buffet)
However, as I would need to chew only on one side of my mouth, it wouldn't do well for my jaws. So instead, we bought some wines. I'm not a big wine drinker but they have the best mead you can buy (though still not as good as some folks I know who make their own). And Reneé sampled several of their wines and we picked up a bottle of Seyval, Vidal Blanc, DeChaunac. Then it was time for dinner.
So, off to the Golden Lamb, an historic inn located in Lebanon, Ohio. Reneé had the Salmon and I had the duck. I believe Delicious was the word that she used.
I told her we'd take her back for lunch some time when we go to ride the Lebanon RailRoad.
Peace, gentle reader
