There are and always have been, many stories floating around. Not Urban Legends, although I get those in the mail too. I know that Bill Gates isn't really going to give a fortune away to the first 100 people who email him. I'm talking about stories that say something. Maybe they just make us chuckle. Maybe we groan at a bad pun. Or perhaps they make us sit a moment and think.
In the past, these stories were passed down as oral tradition. Really important ones were written down on paper and laboriously copied.
With the advent of the printing press, some stories were mass produced. I've got some old children's books on Lincoln and Washington which are filled with tales of them as youth. Are they true? <shrug> They make for good tales even if they are not.

Why are these here? Because I've been collecting these stories through email and such for years and wanted one central location to reference them.
